Maximus: Two Years Old

Editors Note: I wrote this post June 18, 2013 and forgot to click the Publish button.

Max you are two years old. Twenty four months in this world. When I ask you, "Can you say two, Max?" You reply with a sly grin, "Three!"

Max's special birthday dinner at Steak & Shake.

In the past year you learned to walk, talk, run, use utensils, and so much more.

You've practically spent this past year with a permanent goose-egg on your forehead. At least once a month you have crashed head first onto the floor, against a wall, or onto the driveway. You have this super-human power to trip over toys, shoes, or dust.

One of the many goose eggs Max has had on his forehead this year.

Perhaps it's because of all the falling that you are cautious. You're very different from your sister in this way. You check things out. You stick your toe in the water first. She runs full steam ahead and belly flops into the water. So to speak.

You love animals. You especially love watching squirrels. But you also like to watch the neighborhood cats and say, "kitty. meow,  meow" while simultaneously signing "cat" (looks like you are pulling at your whiskers). Most of all, you love Sheba. Actually Sheba is the first "person" you verbally told "I love you." The rest of us get that endearing sign of crossing your arms across your chest and rocking.

Poor quality photo of Max giving Sheba "noses".

You are my snuggler. You still love to be held, hugged, and rocked to sleep. When we are walking you often reach out to hold my hand. You give me the gift of peace. I  hold you and there is no other way to describe the feeling I get other than to say a peacefulness washes over me.

Daddy and I love to watch you and Raelyn play together. She loves to teach you new things and you adore watching her. It's the perfect sibling combination!

Hugs like this are the norm with Raelyn & Max. LOVE!

I continue to pray each day that you will understand how deep and wide God loves you (Ephesians 3:17-19), that you will be kind and tenderhearted (Ephesians 4:32), and that you will be strong and mighty for the Lord (Ephesians 6:10). We love you sooo much!

Here are Max's stats from his 2 year well check:
  • Weight: 27 lbs (36%)
  • Height: 34.5 in (52%)
Max at his well check appointment today (6/18/13).

Dear Max,

Your mother has prepared a beautiful tribute to your first two years of life and the joy, yes peacefulness, that you give her and all who love you.

Love you soooo much,

Papa and Gramma
