I knew several months ago that I wanted to plan a squirrel party for Max's birthday. He just loves watching the squirrels run around our yard, along the fence, up the trees, on the garage roof, and through the neighbors yard. He says, "swirl, swirl!"
I searched high and low. I searched Etsy. I searched Pinterest. I searched Google. And then I searched them all again. I found a few invitations and party ideas for a Woodland themed party. But, most of those didn't even include a squirrel. Besides, I wanted to go more for the cute squirrel critter look for little Max. I mentioned my no squirrel dilemma to my friend, Jenn, and her reply was something like, "It's too bad you don't know a graphic designer." Oh, duh! She's a talented graphic designer and a mommy of toddlers so had lots of great ideas! She created and printed the invitations and then emailed me lots of beautiful printables to cut out and use for the party. I just love how it all turned out! (She supplied me with enough items to decorate even more but I ran out of time.)
The party was a huge success and we all had a lot of fun! On the menu was ham & cheese sliders, veggie cups with ranch or hummus, layered fruit salad, squirrel mix (trail mix), and pretzels (Max's favorite!). Another big hit of the party, which isn't pictured, was the pineapple lemonade punch (recipe at end of post). I made yellow cake with the most amazing chocolate frosting, which you'll see that Max really enjoyed. It was fun watching Max (and Raelyn) open his gifts. Avery and Rachelle made sure the littlest cousins were well cared for and watched over the whole afternoon.
Get ready for picture overload! :)
A big thank you to everyone who was able to attend and a big we missed you to those who weren't able to be there!
